The Photon Collective: A New Photography Community by Ian Norman of Lonely Speck

We’ve been working on a second photography website to live alongside Lonely Speck. It’s called The Photon Collective and it’s launching on February 10th on photoncollective.com.

A Primer

I love photography. While night photography is probably my absolute favorite genre of the trade, I make sure that my photography captures all the aspects of my life, from traveling abroad to times spent with family and everything in transit. I want to share those photographic experiences with you, too, and that’s why I’m creating The Photon Collective. The Photon Collective is all about creative photography. I think that a camera is an amazing excuse to travel to remote and exotic places. It’s an excuse to do things we otherwise would never have experienced if we didn’t have the urge to capture and share them with others. I think photography is one of the most powerful ways humanity communicates ideas. A photograph is accessible and powerful and has the ability to create a profound impact on so many lives.

As of this writing, Lonely Speck recently reached our first 1000 email subscribers. I hope a few of you will also check out what I have in store for The Photon Collective.  I am so grateful that so many of you take the time to read and interact with us. I receive emails every day from readers like you, and I try my best to answer each and every one of those emails. Many of you have become amazing friends, some of whom I still anticipate meeting for the first time in person. I absolutely love answering your questions and hearing from all of you.

About The Photon Collective

See our launch video for The Photon Collective:

The Photon Collective is about all those other things I love about photography. While night sky photography will always be one of my favorite activities, there are so many more photography-related topics that I want to share and write about that don’t fit into the scope of Lonely Speck. The Photon Collective is a community of creative photographers, including myself, that are sharing and writing about their collective passion for capturing light. Much like Lonely Speck, The Photon Collective aims to produce and share all original content. We’ll have tutorials and video walkthroughs, gear reviews and guides, plus tools to help develop your passion for photography. We have a great collection of articles being produced for the website’s launch, and we hope that you will join us when the site goes live.

Check out photoncollective.com to sign up for the launch and get notified when the site is first available on February 10, 2015.

Thanks for reading and showing your support!
